The manuscript editor is the writing surface for the selected manuscript. It keeps manuscript structure visible while preserving the distinction between normal prose, book-only content, and audio-only content.
Use headings to keep scenes or chapters navigable. Keep a short renderable section near the top of early drafts so preview renders stay quick while you test voices and cues.
As you scroll, a compact heading path briefly shows where you are. The Explorer can also highlight the current section without opening collapsed branches. Use the location icon in the editor header to expand the Explorer and reveal the current heading. You can turn the breadcrumb or Explorer highlighting on and off under Settings > Workspace.
For the most important target distinction, read Book-only and audio-only content. The editor shows the manuscript's canonical text usage after it exceeds 90% of the quota. The entry-level limit is 9,000 Unicode code points, or roughly 1,500 average English words; the word estimate is not exact for every language. If a lower quota leaves an existing manuscript over its limit, you may reduce it but cannot add more canonical text until it is compliant.
