Chat agents are reusable assistant configurations available from chat surfaces.

- OpenAI BYOK agents offer Flex or Default processing. Flex is the default and is usually less expensive but may take longer. After two qualifying Flex availability failures, BadgerLeaf uses Default for the rest of that job without changing the saved agent setting.
Creating a BYOK agent or adding, replacing, or connecting its provider credential requires administrator-granted agent.byok.configure access. That setup scope is not required to use an existing configured agent. Assigned managed agents keep their template and provider configuration locked, but their assigned owner may rename them without changing their managed origin.
Shared use starts disabled. An agent owner can enable it, choose whether limits apply only to collaborators or to everyone, set task, concurrency, continuation, managed-credit-estimate, and BYOK-estimate limits, pause collaborator use, or disable all agent activity. Collaborators receive only chat and read-only tools and cannot see private limits or usage. A value of -1 is unlimited only when a narrower platform limit does not apply. Without an active subscription or trial period, the per-period task limit resets at the beginning of each UTC calendar month. Local BYOK estimates cannot guarantee the provider's final bill.
Keep agent instructions focused on behavior. Put project, book, or manuscript facts in the related settings so they stay attached to the work. The entry-level account permits 1 invited agent in each active resource-bound room. You can invite one only when you can send messages in that room, and the agent is removed if you later become read-only. Restoring send access does not re-invite it automatically. For a room attached to another account's resource, that resource-owning account supplies the room capacity; the agent owner's provider and execution limits remain separate.
